A
knot board displays nautical knots that replicate those tied by the
seaman of early sailing ships. Each knot board here includes a select
combination of authentic nautical knots from “The Ashley Book of Knots”. All
of our knot boards are high quality. Sailors devoted much of their idle
time to the tying of nautical knots and to creating many beautiful
designs. Most of the knowledge of nautical knot tying was
handed down from man to man, and from generation to generation.
Designers use hemp and nylon rope and seize with thread to replicate the
exact materials and methods used previously (and presently) by seamen. Each knot is identified with a brass plate. Once tied, the knots are
displayed in the traditional mahogany shadow box frame with
brass-finished corners. These are all sealed to preserve and
protect the inner items.
