The Djembe and ashiko drums are Eastern drums. Djembes originated in the Middle East and are very prominent in belly dancing. Djembe drums have been a popular instrument in the Mid-East for around a century and are now the most common Middle Eastern percussion instrument for that part of the world. Due to the hand-made nature of each Djembe drum may vary in design.
